“What is Dementia?" a seminar given by Dr. Kenneth M. Sauer, MD and hosted by Memory Care of Naples, will walk the audience through how dementia develops, why it happens, the causes and help with understanding the many stages of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s. Dr. Sauer will explain the early, middle and late stages of Alzheimer’s and further explain the treatments utilized to improve quality of life, and support for caregivers. Dr. Sauer Kenneth Morgan Sauer, MD has a long history of studying Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias which started when, at 5 years old, he helped care for his grandfather who had Alzheimer’s dementia. These experiences shaped his education and career in caring for the elderly, especially people afflicted with Alzheimer’s and other dementia. He graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he also completed a fellowship at the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging which was a top 7 ranked training program in geriatrics. Dr. Sauer is boarded in family medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative care.

After teaching at UAMS for five years and continuing his training personally under Dr. David Lipschitz, he joined a local geriatrics practice and helped transform it into the largest geriatric program in Arkansas and one of the largest geriatric groups in the South. During this time he opened one Alzheimer’s Memory Center and subsequently developed a living program used to opened two more certified Alzheimer’s Memory Centers. Using the latest research and combining it with over ten years of personal direct care experience in diagnosing and treating Alzheimer’s, Dr. Sauer has expanded his program into the most comprehensive Alzheimer’s living program for Memory Care America.

Memory Care of Naples announces name change and resident room renovations.

Naples, Florida - March 26, 2014 - Memory Care of Naples, formerly Windsor Place, has announced the community will now be 100% dedicated to Alzheimer’s and dementia for residents under the new name – Memory Care of Naples beginning April 8th, 2014.

“Memory Care of Naples is dedicated 100% to the Alzheimer’s and dementia resident,” said Megan Kennedy, Executive Director. “The community is being renovated and customized to enhance the daily quality of care for each individual resident, just as our model of care is customized to meet each resident’s individual care needs,” she said. Memory Care of Naples will offer 52 bed community located at 2626 Goodlette Frank Road, Naples, FL.

There are plans to customize the entire facility to address the needs of Alzheimer’s and dementia residents. New resident room renovations are currently in progress and many will be available as soon as mid-April. The new rooms feature either hardwood or carpet, crown moldings, new upgraded bathrooms with granite vanities, new closet systems, new HVAC and a wireless call system.

“This facility, thanks to new program development and upgrades, will enable families to maximize quality of life through the customization of care management, and the discipline, patience and compassion every resident deserves,” said Kennedy. “We’re focused on improving quality of life through various stages of the disease in the home, in day stay and in our communities. We further enhance quality of care through our caregiver education and approach.”
